Lisa Marie and Selim were married at Kretz Estates in Burlington, Ontario, Canada on June 14. The bride wore a gorgeous flowy dress with a beaded bodice and chiffon skirt. It was handmade from fabrics found at the grand bazaar in Istanbul, Turkey. She donned a high curly updo accented with crystal hair pins and carried a large bouquet of purple roses and greenery. Her ‘maids looked stunning in mix-and-match deep v-neck dresses. The bridal party also had their hands painted in henna to honor Selim’s Turkish heritage. The groom looked dapper in a gray three-piece suit, while his men wore gray dress pants, suspenders, and purple bow ties. The pair tied the knot in front of 100 family members and friends that traveled a great distance from many places to be with them on their special day. They exchanged vows under an arch made of branches and adorned with bright flowers and white tulle fabric. A reception followed at the estates. “We hand made our wedding ourselves from our wedding favors, bouquets, center pieces, wedding arch, invitations…It was really lovely getting to be so involved and have the little details be exactly how we pictured,” Lisa Marie described. Their reception decor featured a display of Polaroid pictures of the newlyweds, paper lanterns, and a big wire heart topped with flowers and a photo of the couple’s engagement. Guests sat at long tables with white linens, brown place mats, tiny birdcages, and chalkboard table numbers set inside mini succulent tins. “We found a lot of inspiration through Instagram and Pinterest , we fell in love with the more bohemian/DIY weddings,” Lisa Marie says of their wedding inspiration.  For dessert, guests indulged in a cupcake-shaped cake decorated with white rosettes and purple polka dots. Lisa Marie encourages DIY projects, but not too many. “Pinterest is a great source for inspiration, however thinking you can complete X number of projects on your own is somewhat wishful thinking,” she said.
